''Bleeding Under The New Moon''. by Adeola
The concept of the Red Tent originates from ancient practices, where menstruating women would ''retreat'' or ''gather''. In some societies, menstruation was seen as a time of heightened power and spiritual significance, but also a period where women were separated from everyday life. The "red tent" was a physical space where they could rest, support one another, and honour the cyclical nature of their bodies. Over time, this understanding faded and has led to some misinterpretations and abuse. However, the idea of the Red Tent has been revived in this day and age, as a symbol of safe, sacred spaces for people to gather, share, and connect. Red Tents are being created worldwide, in different forms, under varying names. Womb Space Holders are being reminded of the souls desire for respite.
Today, the Red Tent concept has evolved beyond menstruation. It has expanded to include broader themes of life transitions, emotional cycles, and spiritual growth. It focuses on creating a space for deep connection, healing, and communal support. These gatherings are generally centred on shared experiences, storytelling, and nurturing a sense of belonging. They allow people to step away from the demands of daily life and be fully present with themselves and others in an intentional, sacred circle.
The importance of having such spaces cannot be minimised. In a world where people are often pushed to prioritise productivity, success, and constant activity, there is an urgent need for places slow down, reflect, and honour the cycles of life. It’s a reminder that we are not meant to move at a constant pace, and that rest, self-care, and introspection are not only necessary but sacred.
The significance lies in its ability to create a container for vulnerability and authentic expression. These spaces encourage open dialogue without judgement, where emotions, challenges, and achievements can be shared in a community of trust. That is what I aim to create. I want you to know that you are not alone in this human experience. The power of being witnessed and supported by others can be transformative. I can speak from my own life, on the many ways being held, supported and witnessed by my communities has helped me, in some cases, saved me.
The shared wisdom of a group can inspire new insights and ways of thinking, while the communal energy offers a feeling of support that lingers long after the gathering ends. Whether it’s through self-discovery, emotional healing, or simply the act of being part of something larger than oneself. By creating this space, I trust that those aligned with the higher intentions that are the foundation of this movement, will find find this, and tap in. Are you here for this?
The intention for this virtual space is to brings the magic of the Red Tent wherever you are. This isn’t just a Zoom call— Whether you’re familiar with the ancient Red Tent tradition or completely new to the concept, you’re invited to co-create this circle of care, curiosity, and connection.
Each month, the focus is a fresh theme, exploring on topics that speak to our collective experiences. Occasionally, we’re going to be joined by guest speakers who have their medicine to share. Whether it’s a healer, a storyteller, or someone with a tale to tell... and who knows maybe you have a form of medicine or wisdom to share.
Each session typically features guided meditation, quiet reflection, and moments for open sharing. No pressure, just a gentle space to breathe, connect, and if feeling called to... dive deep. Feeling shy? There’s no obligation to share unless it feels right. Sometimes it’s enough to simply be there, soaking up the energy and holding that loving space for others.
The beauty of our Virtual Red Tent is that it creates connections that stretch across the world. It’s a reminder that we’re never truly alone, and that we all share a deep, universal need for belonging and understanding —no judgement, no filters, just wholehearted honesty and respect.
So, if you’re after a monthly ritual that feeds your soul, fills your cup, and surrounds you with wonderful people, this is your sign to join the next gathering. I offer a sliding scale for the energetic exchange of this workshop, allowing you to contribute in a way that feels aligned with your current resources. The sliding scale ensures that you can participate regardless of where you’re at, trusting that you’ll choose a contribution that reflects both the value you receive and what you’re able to give. This is part of the reciprocal energy we cultivate, to bring a sense of balance, trust, and respect mutual respect.
